Pittsburgh was also the center of the labor movement in the late 1800s. In 1890s,
Carnegie Steel workers on strike engaged with the Pinkertons, a private security force. Seven steel workers and two Pinkertons were killed, along with many more wounded. Eventually the state militia was brought in to break the strike.
Nowadays, the site of the Homestead Steel Works is now a series of shopping centers, but a set of brick chimneys from the blast furnaces, a gantry crane and the
pumphouse where the firefight between the strikers and the Pinkertons occurred still remain.
This blend is inspired by the navy blue uniforms typically worn by employees of The Pinkerton Detective Agency.
The Pinkertons is a blend of 75% Merino wool and 25% Tussah Silk. This listing is for 4 ounces of blended combed top.
