Road Trip Signature Collection

Road Trip Signature Collection

Our Road Trip Signature Collection contains six blends inspired by the destinations that have been part of our fiber life.  Some are well known, others are lesser known - but they are all dear and special to us in their own ways and these blends are inspired by our memories of attending these events.

The Road Trip Signature Collection contains Rhinebeck, MDSW, Folk School, Super Summer Knittogether, Indie Knit & Spin and Shenandoah Valley.  Our limited edition sampler box contains one ounce samples of each Signature Blend.

Rhinebeck

At the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck, where New York Sheep and Wool is held every mid October, there is a gorgeous sugar maple tree nestled on a small hill between the Horticulture building and some of the barns.  It's near the line for the apple cider donuts and every year I've been to Rhinebeck, this particular tree is in perfect fall foliage - bright oranges and yellows with hints of burgundy and spots of black.  Our Rhinebeck Signature Blend is inspired by this lone tree in the midst of one of the best fiber festivals in the US and a destination for so many individuals in the fiber arts.

Rhinebeck contains 75% Merino wool, 12.5% Tussah silk and 12.5% Flax

MDSW

Maryland Sheep and Wool was the first sheep and wool festival we attended in 2009 - and it was that trip that convinced us that one of us needed to become a spinner.  MDSW is a family affair for us, and an event that the entire family looks forward to each year.  There are traditions to uphold, including trips to the fleece barn, a spinning T. rex and a visit to the kid's jug band before leaving the fairgrounds for the weekend.

MDSW contains 37.5% Shetland wool, 37.5% Corriedale wool and 25% Jacob wool

Folk School

For the past 3 years, every June we go to far western North Carolina to visit my parents and for our kids to attend the John C. Campbell Folk School's Little Folk School.  For a week, they start off the day with songs and spend the rest of the day learning about traditional crafts such as basketweaving, woodworking, weaving, felt, beading, knitting, surface design and more.  They thrive being around other makers and come home with a pile of handmade goods that are found throughout our home.  Every Friday of Little Folk School, we go for a short hike on the John C Campbell grounds and hope to find the first ripe blackberries of the season - the inspiration for this colorway.

Folk School contains 75% Superfine Merino wool, 12.5% Baby Alpaca and 12.5% Viscose (Rose)

Super Summer Knittogether

For the past two years, we've been honored to attend the KnitGirllls' Super Summer Knittogether (SSK) retreat as vendors and general participants.  Everything about the retreat is wonderful - the campus is like being at Hogwart's, the teachers are fabuluous, the attendees are remarkable.

SSK contains 37.5% Blue Faced Leicester wool, 37.5% Shetland wool, and 25% Baby Alpaca

Indie Knit & Spin

Indie Knit & Spin is our hometown festival, and the first fiber marketplace we ever sold at.  Started by Cosy Cornelius Bates in Pittsburgh in 2011, Cosy handed over the reins to us in 2017 and now it resides at the Ace Hotel in the East Liberty neighborhood of Pittsburgh and features 26 curated vendors selling their own wares.

Indie Knit & Spin contains 37.5% Blue Faced Leicester wool, 37.5% Shetland wool, 12.5% Viscose (Bamboo) and 12.5% Tussah Silk.

Shenandoah Valley

Shenandoah Valley Fiber Festival is our largest event of the year - and it's a favorite.  It's the Goldilocks of fiber festivals, the vendors are outstanding, but there's not too many and they aren't too busy, the volunteers are pleasant, the food is good, the weather typically cooperates and the attendees are wonderful.  Our children have formed friendships with the children of other vendors and they look forward to seeing them every September.  This blend is inspired by a view of the Shenandoah River from a house we rented with friends a couple years back - a tradition filled with warm, happy memories.

Shenandoah Valley contains 37.5% Merino wool, 37.5% Shetland wool, 12.5% Baby Camel and 12.5% Sari Silk

Available on Friday, October 12th at 8 pm!
